50 More Facts and My Reactions to Them

I have found the following list at buburuza.net, a very funny website that I like browsing now and then - plenty of random, amusing, interesting pieces of info, beautiful pictures or comic videos.

While reading this particularly varied list I was having so many different reactions that I decided to write them down:

1. Look at your zipper. See the initials YKK? It stands for Yoshida Kogyo Kabushibibaisha, the world’s largest zipper manufacturer.
I did check - my jeans had another zipper manufacturer, but my sweatshirt zipper had YKK on it :)
2. A raisin dropped in a glass of fresh champagne will bounce up and down continuously from the bottom of the glass to the top.
Cool, never tried it, never will. I like champagne and would not ruin a glass of it by dropping a raisin in.
3. A duck’s quack doesn’t echo. No one knows why.
Maybe it's got something to do with the frequency of the sound? I find it hard to believe that all those scientists couldn't figure it out yet.

4. 40 percent of McDonald’s profits come from the sales of Happy Meals.
Yeah, great news for all those kids eating so healthy...

5. 315 entries in Webster’s 1996 Dictionary were misspelled.
Wow, that's a bit disconcerting...

6. On the average, 12 newborns will be given to the wrong parents daily.
This is a bit scary, actually...

Yew!

9. Ketchup was sold in the 1830’s as a medicine.
Tomato juice plus spices equals medicine? Maybe not so usual for that time.

A, well, he was a genius, something like this does not surprise me.

11. Because metal was scarce, the Oscars given out during World War II were made of wood.
Cool...

12. There are no clocks in Las Vegas gambling casinos.
I wonder why? (in sarcastic tones)

13. Leonardo da Vinci invented scissors. Also, it took him 10 years to paint Mona Lisa’s lips.
Perfection takes time, and we need scissors :)

Hihi, now that's something to be proud of.

Cute, and quite more descriptive, actually :)

16. By raising your legs slowly and lying on your back, you can’t sink in quicksand.
Now that's something to remember. I wonder if anyone would dare to apply it.

17. Mosquito repellents don’t repel. They hide you. The spray blocks the mosquito’s sensors so they don’t know you’re there.
Yeah, common knowledge. It's not like the 'repellent' acts like a 'force shield'. This is not Star Trek.

Is that a disease-related ranking?

25. “Stewardesses” is the longest word that can be typed with only the left hand.
