Funny things happen

Probably the best reaction I heard lately was that of a friend of mine, when, after showing her how her (older) brother was behaving in a photo, said:

"You guys picked him (as a friend), I got him by default"

Funny inspirational stuff

A few days ago I was checking out this site, a very good site for people who want to have a laugh from time to time, and I read this very funny and inspirational "positive thought of the day":

When you feel that nobody loves you,
Nobody cares for you,
Everyone is ignoring you,
And people hate you
You should really ask yourself

Am I too sexy?

Needless to say I think this is my new mantra...

Dedication

To the dude driving so close to me that I can count the hairs in his beard in my rear-view mirror: I'm not driving a space ship that can take off any minute now, so when you push me to get to 180km/h when there are only 2 lanes and the first one is occupied, guess what will happen?

My car will either slow down on its own - again, NOT a space ship! - or you will have to wait until there's room for me to change lanes and slow down. Because what you want me to do - get in between a caravan of trucks travelling at 80km/h is pure SUICIDE!

So, my dedication is this: USE those pea-sized brains of yours and if you can't drive with other people on the same road, STAY HOME!

Now this was a true rant...

3D

OK. Somebody needs to tell me what is up with this 3D-mania? You cannot go to a regular, good-old-fashioned movie anymore, because every stupid little thing needs to be in 3D. Why?

I mean I get it when we're talking about some really cool special effects, but Harry Potter in 3D? Really? Again, I ask why? He's going to do the same stuff he did in the last 4 or however many movies before this one. Did we feel like something was missing? Did you ever thought, during the screening 'Oh, I just wish that owl was in 3D so that I could feel REALLY involved in the plot'? Chances are, no, you did not. So why go to the trouble of filming it in 3D?

Random thoughts about Facebook and other Not-Working Tools

So today I decided to do a little clean-up in my Facebook page, namely I wanted to remove all the useless applications that I had, at one time or another in the past, allowed access to my data.

Would you rather...

Have you ever been asked that stupid question 'Would you rather be the leader of a mediocre team or just another team-member of a brilliant one?'

For a very long time I was OK with either. I don't know why, but I suspect it's because I'm getting older and my patience is running thinner and thinner, but now I would rather be seen as the dumb member of a great team than to look around and see the people that I'm supposed to work with, even for a limited amount of time, and think 'how the hell have these idiots got here?'

Things You Have to Love about an Economic Crisis

Although people are already starting to fret and move about in the Romanian market, a sign that it’s almost over, most business people will keep telling you it’s still going on. However, there are some ‘ups’ of it. Which would those be?, I hear you ask in condescending tones.

Grandma goes to court

A friend sent me a joke today. I had already read it before, but it amused me nevertheless. It's one of those timeless things.

In truth, I suspect I like it so much because I might just be that "grandma" in half a century or so, if I'm lucky ;)

Inspiration

Ever thought something is too hard for you to do it?
I bet they thought the same: 2010 Winter Paralympics
It never stopped them, though...

50 More Facts and My Reactions to Them

I have found the following list at buburuza.net, a very funny website that I like browsing now and then - plenty of random, amusing, interesting pieces of info, beautiful pictures or comic videos.

While reading this particularly varied list I was having so many different reactions that I decided to write them down:

1. Look at your zipper. See the initials YKK? It stands for Yoshida Kogyo Kabushibibaisha, the world’s largest zipper manufacturer.
I did check - my jeans had another zipper manufacturer, but my sweatshirt zipper had YKK on it :)

Melting Butter

Since I started flirting with baking, the activity I found most difficult was melting butter. Yes, that's right.

Coo King - a town in China?

I can't remember who told me that joke, but I remember liking it. A lot. Especially since, at the time, I had no inclination toward my kitchen.

Don't get me wrong, I still don't consider myself as a gifted cook, but I've recently started using a few of my kitchen appliances for another purpose than storing my cereal boxes.

While researching some healthier foods - one of the things I'm trying to do for myself this year is changing my eating habits - I have found a wide range of information about cooking and baking. Most of it is to be found on blogs, and most of it is so easy to use, one could mistake them for an 'Idiot's guide to (...)'.

TV, but not on TV - Pilot

As most of my friends know, I fought my TV addiction a few years back and won. That is to say that I turn the TV on so rarely, that when I do (only under peer pressure) the channels are all scrambled and I need to reset it. Very proud of myself, I am :)

High IQ or just ADD with a sprinkle of procastination?

It occurred to me recently that people who have higher than average IQ can adapt more easily to new situations, learn faster and are able to become proficient in more activities. This is my own idea, I did not bother (didn't have the time, actually, since I'm working on a deadline here) to check it against any studies or relevant literature.

NASA and Terra

Today I kept thinking 'what should I write about on my new blog?'. Time and again, in between the thousand little things I had to take care of, ideas came and went - and by 'went' I mean 'stored, again!' in order to be used on another post when I have gathered more information and more understanding in relation to them.

Almost stressed about me not being able to keep a promise made to myself - see 'the 'Why' ' bit on the right - meaning going to bed without posting anything today, my daily newsletter from 9am News arrived. And Yes, I did notice the irony in it being delivered at 12:15am...

Music

Though I'm not old, I remember the simpler times, when the only music that existed for me was classical music. Don't get me wrong, I loved it and I still do, especially some writers and some pieces, and I don't find it in any way as simple or restrictive - there are thousands sounds and feelings to be explored in the vast collection of the genre.

IQ

I've just finished reading an article, or, better said, the preview of an article to be published in the March issue of Social Psychology Quarterly (link to the Romanian paper that put the findings in the news: Liberalismul, ateismul şi exclusivitatea sexuală la bărbaţi sunt corelate cu IQ-ul)

It appears that there is a strong connection between the IQ and the way people behave - to which my reaction was 'REALLY?'
